Have you ever sat up late at night or early in the morning staring at the ceiling wondering what your passion/life's purpose is?

Have you ever zoned out ruminating over where you have been going in life? or Why you haven't reached or achieved all those goals you had when you were 10, 20, 30 blah blah blah?

Most of us have. (Yeah even you, the one reading this.) We all have at some point in our lives done these things. The most common thoughts or questions that is left unanswered are the following.

  • How did I end up like this?

  • Where did I go wrong?

  • Who am I?

  • Why can't I be like (insert person's name here)?

  • Why didn't I do (insert task/event here)?

Well there are many more questions like this but that's going to make this a huge list, so I'll just leave it with these as examples.

So let's break it down and hopefully get inspired today. Who's with me?

(You are! The one reading this. 😊 )

Here is my take on why we end up in this cycle of rumination and complex thinking.

We have placed a false expectation on ourselves that was manipulated by others expectations for us. Be it our parents, our friends and other family members and even social media.

Yes you read that correct. We have allowed others to get in our heads and we allowed their words or accomplishments to cloud our own path in life. True some people do break out of this and reach the goals they set out to accomplish. Yet you're here reading this and wonder why you haven't.

(Read this paragraph again. ☝)

You're probably going through life with an OK job that covers the bills and the odd vacation to some all inclusive resort. You might be working minimum wage just barely able to cover rent, saving every penny to take a small local trip to clear your head at the end of the year or mid summer. You can even be too busy to even have time to do anything for yourself like go to the gym or make dinner because you are working 2-3 jobs just to survive life.

There are may reasons. But the underlying question you haven't asked yourself is this.

What is my passion/purpose in life?

We are too busy trying to be what everyone expects us to be. We fall into a social and societal norm of being THIS or THAT by THIS TIME. We forgot the creative and imaginative mind we once had as a child that wanted to be an astronaut, a dinosaur, a race car driver, a superhero. We stopped thinking about what we wanted for ourselves and let others make that choice for us.

We had goals and dreams for ourselves and we let them fade to allow others goals and dreams fill their place. Now we are here looking back and wondering some of the questions listed earlier.

The truth behind this all is that we stopped believing we can be and do all those things.

Deep down those goals and dreams are still there. They have been swept under everyone else's goals and dreams we adopted. And you know that those dreams and goals that you adopted don't feel right for you. That's why you're asking the aforementioned questions now.

Well like the title of this blog says... FOLLOW YOUR PASSION. YOUR HEART KNOWS THE WAY!

You see I once fell into this trap of adopting others goals and dreams. I put my passion for art and adventure on hold to be someone I wasn't. I lived a life I wasn't comfortable living. I forgot who I was and why I had these goals and dreams. I was put in a place of deep reflection and introspect on where and why my life took such a hard turn down a rocky road in a clown car with no brakes. This lead me to rediscover my passion for art and writing. My passion for the hiking, camping and climbing. My passion for travel to exotic cities. My passion for working out and marshal arts.

This also showed me who I wasn't or didn't want. I stopped living others goals and dreams and others accomplishments on social media. I do however support others goals and dreams and accomplishments now. Before I use to be jealous and envious and that only held me back from following my passions.

So take the time and reach deep down inside yourself. Find that goal and dream you once had and give it some CPR and see where it can lead you.

And remember my motto:

Don't worry, I got this!!!
